Giving Taylor The Opportunity To Stand

Taylor was born with a rare disability called Arthrogryposis. Which basically means all of her joints are stuck. She gets around by scooting on her butt. She can not lift her arms.
 
For the last 8 years very little has been done to improve her quality of life or her body. We found doctors in South Carolina that are fixing kids like her. On September 30th Taylor will have major leg and hip surgery in South Carolina. She will have to live in South Carolina for 2 months with her mother while she is recovery from surgery.  We live in Indiana so it's about 9 hours from home.

With surgery, if it is successful Taylor will stand! The surgery plan is to get her hips and legs fixed to where she would be able to stand and take a few steps. This is monumental for a child who has spent her entire life on the ground. She just turned 9! However with fixing her legs we are taking away her ability to write. Future plan is to get atleast one arm working. The plan is to cut both hips and rotate and set them to the correct position. Then they will cut her bent leg and place it sticking behind her.  She then will have a prosthesis to wear from the knee down. Her straight leg will require a knee replacement further down the road. If there are any complications during surgery, she will come out of surgery an amputee.

Taylor's Father will be allowed to come to surgery but then will have to go back home to Indiana. Taylor and her mother will live in the Ronald McDonald House hopefully for the 2 months. Taylor's Grandma is having to take 3 months off of work to care for Taylor's 4 brothers during all of this. Taylor's parents are self employed and will have to shut their business down multiple times in order to travel back and forth to South Carolina, quarantining and adjusting to life after surgery.
