Giving time to Grieve Avery for Sarah and Kiyo

Donation protected

We are devastated to share the tragic and unexpected passing of Avery Oye, due to an incident involving a car on Monday July 12th.

Avery was a brilliant young boy of 11 who was greatly creative. He spent his free time building models, painting and drawing, as well as learning to play the cello. He lived with his mother Sarah and father Kiyo at their hobby farm in Mill Bay. He was very involved in the farm, and most loved their bunnies and his dog, Charlie.

Sarah and Kiyo met in Tofino (Kiyo’s home town), while they both worked at Live to Surf. They lived a bohemian life together, being creative and artistic and enjoying the beach lifestyle.

Avery was Sarah and Kiyo’s lovechild, a manifestation of a beautiful connection and knowing that from within each other comes a feeling of home and infinite potential and possibility. The couple spent Avery’s first years living in a tiny rustic one bedroom cabin on Chesterman’s beach, built by Henry Nola. They made do with the small space until opportunity moved them to Victoria, where Kiyo would pursue career goals and study graphic design and Sarah would study and work to become a registered Nurse. In the city, Avery was cared for by his loving grandmother, Sarah’s mother Beverly, while Sarah and Kiyo worked. Avery also had a loving relationship with Kiyo’s father Bruce, who often visited from Ucluelet to help around the farm and share his creative gifts with Avery.

Sarah, Kiyo and Avery were a deeply bonded family unit. They were unified on all fronts and worked together to build a beautiful life and care for their farm animals and pets together. It’s impossible to imagine Sarah and Kiyo without Avery.

With your generous contributions to this go fund me, you will give Sarah and Kiyo help with the expenses of Avery’s funeral, and provide some time and space to grieve and carry on the incredibly difficult task of continuing their lives without sweet Avery, who will forever leave a hole in our hearts.

Thank you for your generosity.
