KC International Academy (KCIA) is a kindergarten through 8th grade charter school located in the Kansas City, Missouri School District. KCIA originally opened as Della Lamb Charter School, the very first charter school in the State of Missouri in 1999.

What makes KCIA unique is our focus to create a world class school with an International emphasis. Many of KCIA's 680 students are members of families who have immigrated to Kansas City from more than 27 different countries to escape war, violence, persecution or natural disaster. KCIA students speak around 16 different languages and 70% of our families speak a language other than English at home. All of our 680 students qualify for the state’s free lunch program and the majority of our students and families live under poverty level. We also have a staggering percentage (between 11-13%) of KCIA students who meet the homeless criteria. With that said, the KCIA school offers many wrap around services to support our students' social, emotional and physical well-being. We also have highly trained and experienced English language development teachers/specialists equipped to support our students’ language needs.

KCIA hopes to raise $100,000 for Giving Tuesday for our much-needed building expansion. We have a 2-3 year building expansion plan due to running out of space for academic needs within our current facility. The project's first phase will include creating new and updated playground equipment for our elementary students. With your help, we look forward to providing a safe, fun, creative outdoor space for our students.
