Rebuilding after Garland

Donation protected
My name is Carley and I am trying to help my sweet Granny and Great Uncle rebuild their lives after surviving with just the clothes on their backs.

Granny heard the tornado above the roof, the lights went off, then she immediately pushed my great uncle and herself against the wall. Seconds later they watched their home leave. No time to jump into a closet or take cover. They were just pressed upon a wall praying and knowing they probably weren't going to make it out. My Great Uncle suffers from Parkinsons Disease making an escape impossibe.  BUT somehow, they didn't get sucked up as everything else around them did. They looked around and everything was gone but they were ALIVE!!

A man driving back to Austin happened to see their roof fall off and their house collapse. He was an EMT. Talk about being at the right place at the right time! He got out of his car, ran into their "house" (piled debris) and asked if anybody was in there. My granny cleared her mouth of the debris where she was able to holler and he found them! He helped get them out and to his car for safety. He called my dad and waited as my dad tried to find different routes to get to where they were waiting. (All of the roads were blocked because of the debris.)

I'm so grateful for the stranger who didn't have to stop but did, and grateful for God giving them another day. Life is so precious and you never believe these tragedies will happen to you until they do. But now they have lost everything. The clothes on their backs and my Great Uncle's cane is all they have left. I was so optimistic on finding their sentimental items and things that could be sold to buy necessities needed to rebuild their lives. Unfortunately, looters took what we went back to scavenge.

Luckily my parent's house remained untouched so we are all currently living out the real "full house" with them, all while having our water turned off. (Everything has to get bad before it gets good right?) Understandably money is tight for all involved in this disaster, so if you cannot donate, I understand truly. Prayers go a long way and they are ALIVE! So I am extremely grateful.
