Moon's MS Fundraiser
Donation protected
Moon was diagnosed with MS last summer. It took us over a year to get that far, and during that time, the medical expenses piled up. MS is difficult to diagnose, the treatments and testing very expensive, monitoring included. Its looking like she has Primary Progressive MS, a particularly disabling form of the disease.
While the doctors say she was probably suffering from it for up to a decade without serious impact, when it did hit things went fast. One of our main financial concerns is depending on treatment, her ability to work is a big unknown. We hope that with new meds and an Occupational Therapy program she can continue for some time, but we just don't know. She suffers from severe fatigue, must use a cane due to drop foot and other balance issues, has a variety of pains and spasticity throughout her body, is developing cognitive issues and is losing the use of her hands. Considering we're already drowning, added to the high cost of living, her going on disability or even reducing her hours (due to fatigue or treatments) is pretty scary. We need help to get caught up and to prepare for future medical expenses and loss of livelihood.
Moon is the hardest worker I know; for 25 years she's worked to support our family, often in grueling jobs. She's worked since she was a teen, has never been fired, and is too proud to do this sort of thing herself.
Neither of us want to be asking for help, but this has left us with no other choices.
Thank you.
