Houghton Co Museum Flood Relief

Earlier this week, heavy rains and storms produced severe weather conditions across the Upper Peninsula and Northern Wisconsin, devastating the area's landscape and infrastructure. The Houghton area was severely hit. Major road cave-ins, sinkholes, and hazardous building damage and collapsing areas have led Governor Snyder to declare a state of emergency for the area.
The current state of the Houghton County Historical Society's newspaper collections. The society, located in Lake Linden, has yet to assess the final damages.
The Houghton County Historical Society, a member organization of the Historical Society of Michigan, is in dire need. We are raising funds for the Houghton County Historical Society in Lake Linden and other local history organizations in the area that may have been affected to provide relief for the devastated portions of their historical collections and property. The Houghton County Historical Society is a volunteer-run organization and is in desperate need of help and donations to save their collections and research facilities.
