Purchase a wheelchair van and unexpected expenses

Hey family and friends,

Shane will be coming home tentatively 12/21. He will need a wheelchair van for a while to help get him to and from appointments. We have a long road ahead, but Shane is a fighter and things are falling in place where I will have help at home so this will be manageable.

I was holding off asking for help hoping he would be able to transfer easily in and out of my car by time he left RHI. That’s just not where we are at, and with him being a tall guy would be difficult to maneuver while he is not able to fully support his body weight.

This would help me keep a lower payment on a wheelchair van so I can manage the other additional costs and unexpected items that may come up. The cheapest wheelchair vans I can find are around $20,000 and most of those have high mileage.

If you know me, you know I hate accepting help. But I know so many people love Shane and want to pitch in however they can. Anything is appreciated more than I can express, and I certainly don’t expect it. I’ve had several people ask how they can help, and right now this seems to be the best way.
