Medical bills and Funeral support

Dear friends, family and kind hearted supporters,

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Cedric Ochwaya Mulama reach out to ask for your support during a very difficult time.

Our dear son/brother/friend, Cedric Ochwaya Mulama passed away on 27th November 2024 at MP-Shah hospital, Nairobi, Kenya after a short illness that he bravely bore.

Cedric was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis caused by protein S deficiency. He had developed clots in the portal veins of the liver and parts of the small intestines. The clots were managed through the administration of blood thinners. After a brief admission in the High Dependency Unit at MP-Shah hospital, he got discharged and was recovering well at home and the clots had shown signs of dissolving.

In November, a short while after some follow ups with his doctor, he started experiencing persistent and intense nausea followed by excessive vomiting. Scans indicated a stricture of clots formed in parts of his small intestines, causing blockage. His kidney functions had also been compromised as a result of excessive vomiting and consequent dehydration. So he was readmitted under a surgeon with the aim of removing the strictures through laparoscopic surgery. The surgery was done and Cedric was fully on the mend.

Cedric’s condition took a turn for the worse on 24/11/24, when he suddenly developed complications while recovering from the surgery. Unrealised, perforations on his small intestine caused a leakage into the abdominal area resulting in septic infection. An emergency corrective surgery had to be done and he remained in the Intensive Care Unit until his death. Despite his resilience and determination to fight this battle, Cedric lost it.

The financial strain of medical bills, treatment, and daily living expenses has been unimaginable. The family has been well and truly overwhelmed, overstretched and faced with mounting medical expenses as we fought to provide the best care possible since his diagnosis. That’s why we are here imploring each one of you to support us in offsetting the hospital bill which stands Ksh 3.1 million (£19,135) and funeral expenses, estimated at Ksh 1.4 million (£8,642)

Your support, whether through a donation or by sharing this page, means the world to us. Every contribution, big or small, will help ease the financial weight and assist the family during this difficult time.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any help you can offer, big or small. Your kindness and generosity will be very much appreciated.

God bless you.

With gratitude,

Christine Muganda on behalf of Geoffrey Tembu Mulama and family
