Hi,
My name is Virlliam Coronel. I met Sophia when she was just a little girl when she shared a kindergarten classroom with my son at Everglades Elementary School. Sophia struggled from a young age with health concerns, having gone through a heart transplant at just 18 months of age. However, she was always a vibrant child, and ready for a playdate. Recently, 5 months ago, Sophia and her family received the sad and painful news that she would need a new heart. She was admitted at Joe DiMaggio Hospital to wait for a new heart . Even though it took almost 3 months to find the right one, she never lost hope as she would say "I know my heart is out there". It took a bit too long. While the new heart was a right match, her body was not able to respond as it had been giving up little by little. So energetic, so charming, with an always present sparkle in her eyes, she would always spread joy to all the people around her. If you knew her you would never have guessed of all the challenges she had to overcome due to her condition. Always loving but also feisty when standing her ground, Sophia was able to win the hearts of the people she touched with kindness and care. She leaves behind her twin brother Kyle, her mom, Fabiana Oliveira, and her dad, Marcelo Dutra, who fought with her until the very end, and who will miss her the most.
Sophia, a good and beautiful kid leaves us with a hole in our hearts. Now you are with God. We love you Sophia.
