Glacier images for science and climate communication
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Hedda and I am a glaciologist, specialising in remote sensing. I am continuously working to bridge climate change impacts communication and tourism - to educate visitors to the Arctic and Antarctic on how the glaciers are impacted by global warming and how incredibly important it is to record the glaciers we visit now, because they will change dramatically in the future.
In doing so, I have established a Citizen Science project where I bring visitors with me to sample images with a drone for climate science communication and to built a glacier archive of 360 degree images. This is called GlacioGlobal and we have so far taken over 350 images, which are all available on the website of my research group: thelivingiceproject.com
I need funds for a new drone as my current one is many years old and starting to come to its last chapter of use, the range and batteries are simply not sufficient any more. A new drone will last many years and will bring so much value for thousands of people. Either by directly participating in GlacioGlobal or by the use of our glacier archive.
Our website livingiceproject.com is used as an educational tool and is a resource for students all the way up to university level.
Any donation is greatly appreciated - you will help educate people about the glaciers on our planet
