Gladys Edwards: My Rock & Best Friend

I am so tired of writing these. Of making funeral arrangements for people I love, but here I am again.

Ms. Gladys Edwards was not just family, but my best friend. We were close from the moment I took my first steps, and every moment with her was a treasure. When my grandmother died in 2018, she was my rock. And when my mother left us in 2022, she was there for me again. We became each other's family, the only ones left. She was the last thread connecting me to the ones I loved, and I was the grand daughter she never had. Since 2022, every birthday, holiday, and Easter was spent together. We would take selfies, and watch old movies together and when I needed to cry I was there laying in her bed sobbing my eyes out.

A year ago, she said to me, "I don't love you from the bottom of my heart; I love you with my whole heart." And I got it tattooed to commemorate one of the kindest things anyone has ever spoken to me. And I feel that way for her now, as I will feel for the rest of my life. I loved her with my whole heart.

Now it is my turn to show her that love, by giving her a proper funeral and burial service that is able to showcase the life of someone who made my life worth living these last few years. Funds will be used to organize a funeral and wake, buy a casket, and organize a burial service.
