Help GlasgowRC Build an Outdoor Astroturf RC Track
Donation protected
There are many examples of great track facilities in the UK, but Scotland lacks its own permanent AstroTurf track and with the hobby proving more popular than ever we believe there is demand to address this. The hobby is inclusive – there are no barriers to age, gender or physical ability - everyone and anyone can race RC cars. After many years of searching for the right venue, we have found an awesome venue! Glasgow RC Club are a non profit community group, and we are asking for support to help us on the journey to develop our new outdoor venue into Scotland's best and only permanent astroturf offroad RC track.
We have secured use of an area of ground located at Calderglen Community Sports Hub in East Kilbride, with excellent access from major road networks in central Scotland. We have discussed our plans and the sports club and they are very supportive!
As well as a large area of grass, we will have available use of the existing club house, toilets, function room, bar, kitchen etc. These facilities will give us an excellent start on the journey to an awesome astro track.
We are using other tracks as inspiration such as Robinhood Raceway, Telford, Bury and more. We have a 3 stage plan on how we are going to build this and we are asking for your help to help us achieve this.
I hope you can share in our excitement and vision. Maybe we will see you at the facility one day!
We need help initial setup:-
Stage1
- Track Markings
- Permanent fence off track area
- Shipping container for storage
- Power to track
Stage2
- Club gazebo, pit tables and chairs
- Drainage and track sculpting, banked corners, table tops, doubles and triples etc.
- Astroturf, prep, delivery and installation
- Higher permanent rostrum
- Concrete corner mounds to enable multi track layouts
Stage3
- Improve disabled access
- Pit village
The location is easy to get to and is well serviced by local hotels (3 Premier Inn hotels in a 3 mile radius!). Calderglen Community Sport Hub, East Kilbride, Glasgow G75 0SN. Google map here
