Glass Fire: 3, Yates clan: 0

Before first light, my father Brian Yates awoke to the stench of smoke and an eerie orange sky on Sunday, September 27, 2020. The hills of Saint Helena, the heart of the Napa Valley, were aflame.
He was fortunate to evacuate safely, but given the extremely short notice of the mandatory evacuation, was unable to take more than his two cats, a laptop, and a suitcase of clothing.
It was difficult to figure out the status of his home for a few days. Unfortunately we received confirmation of a total loss on Tuesday, September 29, 2020.
His home, my childhood home, of over thirty years is nothing but ashes.
Any contribution will help him cover the insurance claim deductible, meet any emergency expenses resulting from being displaced, and start picking up the pieces.
The local ABC 7 news channel interviewed us at V. Sattui Winery one of the days we were able to gain access to document the damage for the insurance claim (https://abc7news.com/glass-fire-prompts-new-evacuation-orders-in-napa-co-/6775330/). We appear at approximately 1:45.
To explain the title of this fundraiser, my father was not the only member of our family who lost their home to the Glass Fire. My aunt (https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-the-wyard-family-rebuild-after-the-glassfire) on Crystal Springs Road and my grandparents (https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-joanne-amp-howard-rebuild-after-the-glass-fire) on Cañon Park Drive are also starting over.
Although the trees resemble burnt matchsticks, our roots run deep in this valley. We all love Saint Helena and hope to rebuild so we can continue to be a part of this wonderful community.
Thank you for anything you can do to help Brian find his way home.
