Glatton Village Hall Rebuild Fund

Glatton is described as a "historically rich miniature quintessential English Village" with 10 chocolate box thatched cottages making up the 116 properties. These Tudor style cottages date back to the late 16th century with the oldest cottage 'Allways' famously the home of the late author Beverley Nichols and was one of the most visited Tudor cottages throughout the mid 1930.

Glatton history extends prior to 1042 when it was held by the Saxon King Ulf.

As unlikely as it sounds, with Glatton being some 40 miles from the nearest coast, there have been four Royal Navy ships named HMS Glatton, with the first being commanded by the infamous Captain William Blith.

Glatton Village Hall was first opened in 1952 built of a Nissen Hut design and is the centre of the village life used by local groups, charities and simply a drop in centre for the older generation within the village.

The 70 year old hall is beyond economical repair, and the village has received planning permission to replace the hall.

As a village consisting of just over 200 residents, we now have a monumental task of raising funds towards the overall cost of replacing this community hub.

Any money given no matter how big or small will move us closer to the estimated £350,000 build cost. For donations of £150 and ticking the checkbox to provide our charity with your email address, we will offer you the option of having a dedication brick name plaque.
