Dont forget Ukraine - Gratis udstilling i hele landet.

My name is Jan Grarup. I am a Reportage photographer. Since February 2022, I have spent more than 140 days on the front lines in Ukraine documenting Russia's illegal attempt to occupy a sovereign country but at a colossal cost to the civilian population of the country. The daily attacks on big cities, hospitals, schools and residences have made life in Ukraine a daily struggle for survival. I am in the process of creating an exhibition in an old bunker located in the center of Copenhagen, to show the consequences of the war. The choice of bunkers as an exhibition venue is to show how Ukrainians have to find safety in basements, bunkers or metro stations on a daily basis. In addition, the site is also an opportunity to show how we ourselves built these bunkers for our own protection during the Cold War. My previous exhibition about Ukraine at the War Museum was one of the most visited the museum has experienced, but there was also an exhibition that required admission. This exhibition is free for everyone - and particularly suitable for schools and educational institutions, where many have already asked if they can bring their oldest classes. There will be a free tour by the undersigned and there will be open events where Ukrainians living here tell their own stories. In addition, wounded soldiers who have been treated in Denmark will tell their stories. The war in Ukraine has slipped further and further away from the media and therefore it is important to show how the reality is still here on day 955 since the invasion took place. The exhibition is in production and will open at the end of October, beginning of November. I myself have sold signed works to raise the economy and have received support from foundations. The capital's emergency services have made the bunkers available at no cost. But the exhibition will not only be shown in Copenhagen, it will travel around the country. Denmark has bunker facilities all over the country and therefore I would also like to have the exhibition to Sønderborg, Esbjerg, Århus, Odense, Ålborg and more in similar bunkers - again with free access for all and corresponding tours and personal stories. Therefore, I need funds to finance several exhibitions so that they can be shown simultaneously. The hope is that we can export the exhibitions to our neighboring countries, so that as many people as possible can get a personal insight into the everyday life of Ukrainians in the middle of the war. I am constantly trying to find funds and sell works that can cover some of the costs, but it has proved difficult, so I am now trying to see if we can jointly lift that burden. All donations will be used in full on the productions and I am grateful for each and every one that may come.
Kind regards - and thank you!
