Glenna Collins Memorial Fund
Tax deductible
My mother Glenna Collins passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018. In the spring of this year, I saw three rainbows in one day. My heart stopped when I saw the third one; I felt like I was being told that something life-changing was going to happen. It might sound crazy, but I felt that my mom's deceased parents and brother were trying to tell me something.
For the past four years, I have been quietly coping with the fact that my mom, Glenna Collins, had early onset Alzheimer's disease. The disease progressed quickly and it truly broke my heart. My husband, son and I were her only living family members and we did our best to give her the love and care she deserved.
One night a couple of weeks ago, while my mom was on hospice care, I was waiting up at night to pick up a prescription for her. I stumbled across Hilarity for Charity on Netflix, a variety show hosted by Seth Rogen and his wife Lauren Miller Rogen. Not knowing the premise, I quickly realized that it is a charity "dedicated to raising awareness, inspiring change, and accelerating progress in Alzheimer’s care, research, and support through the engagement of millennials." After Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller Rogen explained their reasons for founding the charity, that Lauren Miller Rogen's mother also has Alzheimer's, they welcomed Kermit the frog to the stage to sing "The Rainbow Connection." I felt a wave of emotion wash over me as I remembered the three rainbows I had seen earlier this year. I knew this was the charity I needed to support with my mom's memorial fund.
After researching it, I love the fact that Hilarity for Charity provides much needed relief for families dealing with Alzheimer's in the form of caregivers who give loved ones a break. They also specifically fund research for early onset Alzheimer's disease.
Please help me support this cause. All donations will go directly from gofundme to Hilarity for Charity.
