Glizbusters- Peta Salter Support Crew
Donation protected
Hi everyone, Peta's support crew is banding together to raise some funds to support Peta Salter whilst she has treatment for brain cancer.
Many of you know Peta as a friend, larrikin, co-host of the popular podcast Fun Fresh and Footy and a much-loved member of the Hunter Rugby Union community. Pete has been a part of the Merewether Carlton Women's team, played for Hunter Women's rugby at country champs, represented NSW Country and Presidents 15 and most notably, captained the Hunter Wildfire's women's team since their inaugural year in the Jack Scott Cup.
Sadly, earlier this year Pete experienced a seizure which led to the discovery of a brain tumour. Pete has since been diagnosed with a High Grade 3 Astrocytoma. There is currently no known cure for this type of cancer, and Pete is in the process of undergoing a large range of invasive treatments including major brain surgery, 7 weeks of daily radiation therapy and 12 months of chemotherapy. Pete was previously working as a Speech Therapist in the community disability setting. Due to Pete's ongoing seizures and symptoms since her diagnosis, she is unable to drive or return to work.
As such, we are calling on the wider community to help us support Pete to manage her daily costs (rent, groceries, transport etc) and assist with some of her treatment and medical bills. We understand that in these challenging financial times, not everyone can contribute, however, any donation big or small is greatly appreciated!
Peta has our blessing to do this fundraising, although won't actively be involved as she focuses on her treatment over the coming months.
If you have any questions or concerns, want to send a message of support to Pete or want to get involved in any way, please reach out so we can send you our email address (it won't let us post here due to scams).
Thank you all Xx
