GloFundMe - Raising money to assist with vet fees

Gloria is a nine year old podenco from Olivanza in Spain, rescued and re homed by the wonderful SOS Podenco Rescue.

She was adopted in 2016 and has been loving life in Glasgow ever since! She is truly an adorable dog with buckets of love for everyone she meets, she is always smiling no matter the weather, no matter whatever is going on.

Unfortunately, lovely Gloria has had a run of bad luck with her health. Following a lot of treatment and testing, Gloria was diagnosed with a mast cell tumour which was surgically removed on the 15th of January.

Following this surgery the cells from the tumour were tested and shown to be quite aggressive. Due to this, she was then required to undergo an abdominal scan at CrumPets Vets with liver and spleen samples and tests to determine whether or not the cancer had spread to any of her organs. Thankfully the scan and tests showed that it had not spread which was wonderful news for Gloria!

Due to the location of the tumour that was removed and the aggression of the cells tested Gloria still requires six months of chemotherapy. This is under the advice of the wonderful vets at Crum Pets and Queens Crescent Veterinary Clinic, who has all been incredibly kind and supportive during this scary time - Gloria has certainly made a big impression and lots of new friends!

Gloria’s insurance was used up in the diagnosis process of the tumour, before surgery. Her insurance policy offers £1000 per year per condition and as the diagnosis and further treatment have exceeded this amount; Gloria’s treatment is currently being paid out of pocket, with her surgery and scans costing upwards of £3000.

Gloria’s continuing treatment of chemotherapy requires six chemotherapy tablets, six monthly blood sample checks, six months of steroid and liver protection medications, oncology consultation, and monthly appointments to monitor her health and reaction to the tablets.

Her first chemotherapy appointment will cost in the region of £1350. Her monthly treatments going forward will cost around 4 to £500 depending on the consultation level required for each blood test result.

Gloria’s mum Jessie has exhausted most of her credit and loan options and now needs help to cover the last round of costs.
