Global Action Trip : Volunteering in Costa Rica 2025

Hi, my name is Emma, I’m 15 and I live in Worcestershire.
I'm beyond thankful to have been presented with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to volunteer with my school, in the beautiful country of Costa Rica, in 2025.
This trip is being run by the Global Action organisation. This amazing organisation helps young people like myself to explore unfamiliar cultures and learn about global issues so we can aim to prevent them in the future.
The experience in a nutshell:
- We will spend two nights in an Eco-tourism resort in the Arenal Volcano National Park where I will learn how to sustainably protect communities like this one.
- Here, we will trek through the Monteverde Cloud Forest learning about Natural Resource Conservation and Protection of Endangered Species.
- From there we will do four days of hands-on learning about environmental preservation through turtle conservation and a blue flag beach programme focusing on plastic waste.
I aim to make impact-full contributions to the environment during my stay.
Sounds like a dream, right? Yes, but there's just one catch: every student must individually raise the cost of the trip- £3,590!
I am currently fundraising to help cover the cost and have lots of ideas:
- local jobs ( cleaning cars/windows )
- bake sales
- fete stalls selling handmade crafts
- part-time jobs
In addition, anyone can also support my fundraising efforts while shopping.
