Global Challenges: Aquaponics in Honduras

Donation protected
UPDATE: We raised all the funds for the November trip, so we have stopped accepting donations through this website. See the link below for information about the ongoing efforts in this project.

The Bob Jones University Global Challenges class is researching ways to increase food security in the "Dry Corridor" of Central America including a large part of Honduras. To better understand a local cultural perspective on the problem, build relationships on the ground, and learn more about aquaponics, the team is planning two field trips.

First, a small group of students will visit Honduras, make a presentation about aquaponics, connect with local leaders, and visit existing aquaponics systems.

Second, the rest of the team will visit the Ark Encounter in Kentucky, where they will tour the large hydroponic and aquaponics systems used there to raise food for the Ark Encounter's large collection of animals.

Dr. Bill Lovegrove, BJU engineering faculty member, is the lead teacher for this inter-disciplinary class, and he is supervising the trip and managing this fundraiser. Contact him through the contact link.

We have received several large donations directly to the university, not through GoFundMe, so the goal here has been reduced to reflect just the remaining funds needed.

Below is a link to the project website with more details, including an update of the total fund raising:
