"The GGT|NFP After School Program" (state of Illinois file#71184404) is designed to teach Urban youth how to help the disabled using the latest advancements in 3D Printing, Computer Aided Design, and Virtual Reality. Our students will be given a concept or allowed to come upon his or her own idea related to "STEM" (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) as long they are helping the disabled. Our goal is to be able to help out one disabled person per week who needs a hand or whole arm.
Each week, students will be given specific projects ranging in robotics, Virtual Reality (VR), computer arts, 3D printing, and CNC operations that will have to be completed by the end of each week. In the middle of the week, our students will also work on a presentation using various collaboration tools online. The students will also submit their final five to the eight-minute presentation with photos and video. All projects will be checked by staff before the actual presentation to avoid embarrassment in front of the class. Each project will help build students self-esteem in and outside of the class.
