Gloucester VA Family in Need

Hi, my name is Ken and I'm fundraising for a Gloucester, Virginia family in dire need of immediate financial assistance. While I've only lived in Gloucester for 2 years, I love the area and the people here already...this is a chance for us to come together as a community and support one of our locals when they desperately need help!

Duane Jenkins and his wife Ashley have lived in this town all of their lives. Duane grew up as a waterman. His father passed away when he was just 12 years old, and Duane began working on the water to support himself and his family.

Duane suffered a major back injury while at work in October 2022, and had to have back surgery in December. He's currently having difficulty walking, and doing anything requiring physical exertion.  Unfortunately his medical expenses are not being covered by employer workman’s compensation at this time.

Duane and Ashley's daughter suffers from pulmonary hypertension and has been diagnosed with a form of heart failure. With no current income, and extensive medical bills adding up, the family is in need of immediate community support. 

Update Jan 16:  Thanks to all of the generous support, the family was able to secure a new place to live and has recently moved in!  They still do not have transportation, and would greatly appreciate any help with funding a vehicle.

All funds raised will go toward:

Deposit and Rent for 3 months during recovery

Vehicle purchase for basic transportation needs

Food and living expenses for 3 months
