WVURFC National Playoffs

The West Virginia University Rugby Club has grown from a coachless Division II team to an increasingly competitive Division I champion of the Keystone Rugby Conference and national Elite Eight finalist under coach Richard Glover last season. Last season we had our first ever player named to the All-America team, Ryan Blythe and current and former club president's Joe Watson and Kristofer Wilson were named Academic All-Americans. Our team is significantly self-funded with the burden of rental vehicles, hotel rooms, and even meals fall on the efforts of the players themselves. Our club has become successful despite not being able to offer scholarships, dedicate salaried coaches to the team, and receiving exclusive access to school facilities as many of our national opponents are able to do. We defeated St. Joe's in the Keystone Conference final for an invite to the ACRC Bowl Series November 22nd in Charlotte, NC and a bid in the USA Rugby National Playoffs this spring, where we advanced to the Elite Eight in our first ever trip last season. Our club hopes to continue to develop and compete at a national level and bring a National Championship to WVU; however, we cannot do it alone. Our players have to balance school with rugby and work as many struggle to afford the costs of being a college student. Our player dues are among the lowest in our club sports federation while our team remains one of the most nationally competitive. Please help send us to these national tournaments which our young men have worked so hard to earn and continue to strive towards in the future. Our postseason have begun with a victory in the Keystone Conference championship, and the club thanks you for your support in helping the WVURFC stay strong no matter what!
