I started this GoFundMe to help with the unexpected expenses (medical, loss of work while living expenses continue, gas going back and forth to treatment) that my niece Kari and Jon will incur while taking care of Olivia during her treatments. Many have asked how they can help. Relieving some of the financial pressures will allow Kari and Jon to focus on the love and support needed during treatment, healing, and recovery. They are eternally grateful for any amount you are available to give.

Below is a glimpse of what they have been going through the last 3 weeks.

October 21st Oliva had her routine 6 month scans in the morning, in the afternoon they met with the Dr. We received the results we weren’t expecting, inflamed lymph nodes by her right hip and a few in her chest.

October 25th Olivia had a PET scan and additional bloodwork. The lymph nodes her oncologist were concerned about lit up on the PET scan.

November 2nd Surgery was scheduled. A biopsy of the concerned lymph nodes and bone marrow were done. During surgery Olivia’s surgeon had noticed her appendix was inflamed which could have been signs of appendicitis. It could get worse the older she gets and eventually could explode if not taken care of properly, Kari and Jon agreed to have it removed during surgery. After Olivia’s surgery the surgeon came out to meet with Kari and Jon to give them an update. He let them know they were able to remove two of the abnormal looking lymph nodes and send them off to pathology. He also stated if he had to guess the lymph nodes looked a lot like the Neuroblastoma cancer she had previously, but thy will need to be sent to pathology to confirm his findings.

November 3rd Kari and Jon received a call from Olivia’s Oncologist confirming her Neuroblastoma is back.

November 8th Olivia is scheduled for surgery to have a port placed to start treatments. Surgery went well and a treatment plan is in place. November 14th Treatments start, see below for the plan: Treatments consist of two weeks at a time.

The first week:

Monday – Chemo - takes about 2 hours
Tuesday - Chemo/Antibodies - takes about 5 to 7 hours
Wednesday – Chemo - takes about 2 hours
Thursday - Chemo/Antibodies - takes about 5 to 7 hours
Friday – Chemo - takes about 2 hours

The second week:

Tuesday – Antibodies - takes about 5 to 7 hours
Thursday – Antibodies - takes about 5 to 7 hours

She’ll get a week off and that back at it another two weeks…than another week off and back at it another two weeks. Olivia’s doctor told us this is about a year worth of treatment.

Positive thoughts, prayers, and energy are of utmost importance and very much needed and appreciated!

Thank you in advance from the bottom of their hearts!
