Guatemala Summer Trip

Its funny how God has a way of destroying all our own plans and replacing them with His. For example, I planned to go to Africa this summer and last time I checked Guatemala isn't in Africa. I never intended to go back to Guatemala again, yet here I am. Its funny how God looks at our meek plans and tells us he has much more planned. I knew I wanted to go and do something this summer, and this opportunity literally came out of nowhere and was too good to pass up. I will be going for 2 months to Guatemala this summer. The first month will be language acquisition and working in individual ministry areas at the Hope of Life International Compound. The second month will be total submersion in Guatemalan culture. I will be living with a local family in a village and participating in a medical internship at a local hospital. I am super excited to see how this all unfolds, but I am also decently scared to death simply because I do not actually speak Spanish. But that is how I knew this was God's direction in my life: it is something I can't do on my own. It was no coincidence that I saw a former Spanish teacher who asked if I knew anyone interested in this opportunity. Little did he know that I would be the one taking him up on this chance. Many of you might remember me going to Guatemala with Liberty the summer of 2012. I loved it, but left the country saying I didn't think I would go back. But here I am, going back not just to Guatemala but to the exact same missions organization and WORKING in the hospital I helped to BUILD. This is a big dream, a scary dream, a $6000 dream. But I know this is what God wants for me, and I who am I to tell him no? I would love to have your love, support, and prayer as I move ahead. Thanks!
