Flash Flood relief

Donation protected
Wednesday the 20th was a wonderful day for Mary, Nova (our Dog) and me. We were making plans to have a wonderful Christmas together. That night we went to bed and woke up at 2am to a disaster. Water was flowing into our home at a rapid rate. In some parts of the property it was nearly 5 feet in depth. Our car in the garage was totaled. The garage door buckled from the force of the water and the car had water over the top of the tires. I got to our motor home that was parked some distance away on the street and got it to safety before the waters flooded it too.

For the next three hours Mary got vitals together, food, clothes, and saving what she could. I marched back and forth over a quarter of a mile each way until I got those vitals to the motorhome and at 5am we drove to our studio in Ventura and slept for a few hours. Some of the water I waded through was waste high. It exhausted me.

The next day we went back to our house to see what was left. Not much. most of our furniture and electronics went in the trash. It took us 11 days with little rest or sleep to remove from the house what we could. Some of our friends helped and we greatly appreciate them. They gave us their love and time unconditionally.

Bottom line is our home owners insurance company has denied our claim. There weren't enough homes affected for FEMA to give us relief either. Nearly 200 homes were flooded and almost that many cars were lost. But it wasn't enough to declare a disaster.

Although we have a motorhome it is difficult to drive as an everyday car and it consumes a lot of gas. The insurance company for our car isn't being much help in replacing the car. Eventually we might see money for it and if we fight our insurance company for our home insurance we might see something months or a year from now.

What we need is a used car to replace the one we had which was in new condition with 44 thousand miles. We need to replace the PC monitors, my PC work tower for editing and visual effects. It was under 4 feet of water. There were lots of peripherals that were lost for my work stations for editing and visual effects that are needed.

We are spending a lot of money just to live. Right now we are staying at a hotel and money for that will run out soon. There's so much more and it's just a mess.

The equipment to work and produce my online shows, Live Streams and more is greatly needed. These shows bring in income from Patreon and other sources. I need to keep them going. And of course a car.

If you can help, any amount is not too small. It all helps.

And that was the short story. Thank you so much for the help from Mary, me and our dog Nova!
