GNAT Workspace Start-Up Fund

Fall 2021 Update!

Hey y’all! It’s been about a year since I last asked for help, and DIY’d to my hearts content between making gear. Since I didn’t reach my full budget, I wasn’t able to do anything too major, but I got to invest in what I needed at the time. I got to completely repaint the space, buy some used furniture for it, create a fully functioning workshop and office, and build fixtures like my fabric rack and workbenches.

NOW I need help with some more necessary renovations to keep my space safe, comfortable and secure. 

I have hired a queer carpenter to do work for me, and am hoping to raise an additional $500 to supplement my tight budget for these improvements:

-New deadbolt & doorframe fixes

-Tuck pointing above one window & drywall revamp for window leak 

-Drywall sparkling around the space for pest prevention 

-Ceiling Repair for plumbing leak (leak is fixed)

-Cement step resurfacing for waterproof entry 

-Various other small fixes 

If I reach this $500 goal, the total raised would be at $2100. Thank you so so much!! 

After 7 years of developing the GNAT Glitter Kink brand and designing the perfect glittery harness, I've finally bet on myself and rented my first storefront space! So many possibilities lay ahead of me, and I am excited to build my dream workspace, showroom and shop. I'm located blocks from the Leather Archives& Museum and Leather Bars of Roger's Park, and I hope to expand on the kinkiness of the neighborhood with an offering that is Femme, gender expansive, body positive, community oriented, and glittery.

I understand and amplify the needs of the Black community at this time, and do not advocate for helping fund my venture BEFORE donating to Organizations and individuals in need. GNAT stands with Black Lives Matter, and advocates for Black Trans Folks and their needs first and foremost. 

I am raising funds to finance the start-up costs of a new workspace and shop. GNAT is a self-funded businesses that is owned and operated by one woman, me! I plan to invest all the funds raised into equipment and supplies that enable me to make gear efficiently and safely. I will also invest in various equipment and fixtures needed for my new studio and shop, and will further create the environment from which I will make all those sparkling harnesses, garments, and accessories. I will be collecting small investments for my business all Summer, and will be building out my space during Fall 2020. Due to Covid-19, a store that is open to the public isn't a possibility, so I will spend this time to work towards building out my goal while fulfilling orders that keep my business going. I hope to have a Launch Party in the future, where I can connect with all my amazing friends and family who have encouraged me all these years!

A donation to this fundraiser is an angel Investment into my business. My business plan will enable GNAT to survive, and then thrive, and that profit will be further invested into the community. I plan to offer residencies with other QTPOC artists, so that I can mentor aspiring artists and designers as they launch their own businesses.

I would be so grateful for the help that will enable me to reach my goals while making an inclusive and empowering space for others to explore their sexual wellness. Minority Owned Small Businesses face a lot of challenges, especially within the fashion & Sexuality industries.
