Support Camden's Journey to Recovery

My name is Kimberly and I am raising funds to help our sweet Camden Davenport. I have known Camden all his life; Leeann and the boys are my chosen family.
Camden was in a horrible motorcycle accident on April 9th on Highway 370. The group that he was riding with was joined by an unfamiliar rider who split between Camden and his group which caused the accident. Camden unfortunately got the worst of the injuries out of everyone involved, even though he had on the most protective gear. Thank God his helmet and riding suit did their job; his head was protected and he didn’t have any road rash. The State Trooper did CPR on the highway and was able to revive Camden. He had a collapsed lung and needed a chest tube.
His injuries sustained during the accident include a broken scapula and clavicle on his left shoulder, 6 ribs with multiple fractures front and back, broken pelvis, right femur had a displaced fracture, left tib/fib had a compound fracture, multiple broken toes, lower spine was all broken with an L2 burst fracture and his middle back was broken as well.
He went through an 11-hour surgery on April 10th. They put a rod in his lower back and a rod in each leg. After a very long wait, the surgeons finally let the family know that they were keeping him intubated overnight in the ICU, but the surgeries went well.
The next morning nurses tried waking Camden up without success. They said it was likely because of the amount of anesthesia and nothing to worry about. They sent him for a CT scan to look for any issues and nothing came back. Friday, April 12th, two days after surgery he still didn’t wake up. They sent him for an MRI. Our hearts were broken when the results came back. They called the family into a conference room with a team of Doctors and let us know that during surgery Camden had formed fat embolisms in his brain.
He ended up spending two weeks in the ICU at Mercy St. Louis. During that time the family toured Long Term Acute Care facilities (LTACs) and decided to move him to Missouri Baptist. He transferred there on April 24th.
In the last four weeks he has made unbelievable progress. He talked for the first time on May 8th. His trachea came out on May 10th. He is able to talk and move all of his limbs. He is weight bearing as of May 23. He is relearning just about everything and doing such an amazing job, but it is very challenging work.
Hopefully the next step is having him airlifted to the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab in Chicago, IL next week if the insurance kinks get worked out. This is an acute inpatient rehabilitation facility where he will receive the best chance for a full recovery. Unfortunately, it is out of his insurance network and he has been out of work since the accident with no disability insurance; therefore, no income. After that he will need more outpatient rehabilitation which will likely include making his Mom's house accessible. Any donation will help to get him what he needs. We are so grateful for the outpouring of support and love that has been shown by so many in this difficult time. Cam is a strong young man and we just continue praying that he can use that strength to make the best recovery possible.
Please keep him in your prayers! Pray that his brain continues to heal itself and his mobility continues to improve. Pray for peace, faith, and hope for his parents, his brothers, and all that love him.
