Amanda Palma is a typical teenage girl. She enjoys watching the Walking Dead, likes hanging out with friends, and loves playing with her dog Piper. Amanda is fun loving and has a great sense of humor.

Amanda was diagnosed with Friedreich’s Ataxia (FA) in 2015. FA is a rare genetic disease that shortens lives, and has no cure. FA can attack one’s heart, eyesight, hearing, speech, and mobility. Amanda’s ability to get around has become increasingly difficult and is making everyday life a challenge. She and her family have been incredibly brave throughout this process and have been doing everything they can to improve her quality of life.

This April Amanda will undergo scoliosis surgery because without it her spine can puncture her heart and lungs.  As a result of this surgery, Amanda will never be able to walk again.  Her family will need to make modifications to their home as well as buy a wheelchair accessible van.  A used van alone will run about $40,000.00.   With the support of her friends and family, she is trying to live her life as normal as possible.

We are asking our friends and the community to help assist Amanda’s family with the expenses they will be burdened with due to Amanda’s illness. We hope you will consider supporting this worthy cause.

Thank you,

Team Amanda
