Go Coach Mellado

Coach Mellado has been a high school Science teacher and Football & Track coach for 43 years and has dedicated his life to serving high school students. He is passionate about working with student athletes and believes it is his ministry to help guide them throughout high school. He definitely doesn’t want people fussing over him and will drop everything to go help any of his friends,coworkers, or athletes. Now we can give back to him. He is 62 and has been married for 42 years to his wife Jan (who was an elementary teacher for 30 years). They have two grown daughters, Jana & Sara, and three grandsons: Landon (14), Cade (12), & Marshall (5).  He and Jan are active members at Lake Pointe Church and he has taught Sunday school for many years.

Recently he found out that he had a large nerf football size mass growing in his abdomen. The initial diagnosis is adrenal cancer, which is very rare. He will have to undergo an extensive surgery to remove the mass, possibly his entire right kidney, a portion of the pancreas, as well as a section of his stomach and small bowel.  During this surgery he will find out how invasive the cancer is because the mass is so large it is hard for the surgeons to conclusively see where it originates and what all it is connected to. Six weeks after surgery he will begin his chemotherapy.

As two teachers the medical expense of the hospital stays, the surgery and upcoming chemotherapy treatments are going to be unmanageable.  We do not want them to have to worry about having to pay their deductible. Any donation will be greatly appreciated and a huge blessing to our family.
