My name is Nicole Abbate. I am raising these funds on behalf of my sister Laura Elliott and my brother-in-law, Anthony.

1-7-2024 from Laura:

“The best way I can describe it is that
such small progress feels so big and things seem so hopeful and we feel like we are on the road to success, but then a moment happens, one small moment, like Anthony struggling to get his feet in the car , and all those big, good feelings, start to feel so small...”

12-20-23 from Laura:

" We are very grateful today. Anthony is allowed to be discharged and has been approved to go to an acute rehab place out of state that will be the best for his injury. We are set to leave later this week. Kids will be having Christmas a little different this year, but most importantly they will have it with their dad."

Your continued generous donations will help fund any costs throughout his long road to recovery. Thank you for all that you have done for Anthony and our family so far. We are beyond blessed.

Original Post:

Father, husband, and SDPD Sergeant Anthony Elliott was shot and sustained a severe head injury while on duty. He is currently in critical care. We want to extend our heartfelt support to his wife, Laura, and their two children, a 3 year old boy and almost 1 year old boy, who are holding onto hope and strength during this incredibly challenging time of his recovery.

We kindly request your donations to assist the Elliott family in their journey towards healing. Your contributions will help maintain their daily lives while supporting Anthony on his road to recovery.

Here are some ideas as to what we are planning on using the funds for:

1). Meals and snacks for him during his recovery period and for his family while they travel back and forth to visit.

2). Converting his garage into a "rehabilitation gym" with proper equipment so he has access to the tools he needs to recover faster.

3). Self care items and opportunities for his wife and family members while they continue to support him in his recovery.

4). Funds to be used for various bills: gas to and from the hospital, medical bills not covered, etc.

Please keep Anthony and the Elliott family in your thoughts and prayers, and thank you for your compassion, generosity, and support.

A note from Laura (his loving and devoted wife):

"It’s an understatement to say that Anthony is an extremely well-liked and respected Sergeant. He has given his heart and soul to the department for the past 6 years. He gets up every day hellbent on being better than he was the day before. He has worked tirelessly, both on the clock and off the clock to be the best version of himself he could possibly be for the department.

More important than his dedication to his career development is how he puts people first and is liked by all. This is a true testament to the man that he is.

While he is driven to be the best he can at work, he first and foremost prioritizes being the best husband and father humanly possible.

I wish I could share all the videos of him with our two boys on any given day so everyone could see the love and how much of himself he gives to his family.

He is the most honorable and selfless man that I know. There’s nothing more important to him than his family, and I know that because he makes us feel that way every single day. The first thing he said to me after he was shot was, “I just want to be able to hold my kids again.”

What I want people to understand is every single day that he goes to work there is a chance he doesn’t come back. That’s the true reality. It has become extremely unsafe for police officers today.

The biggest sacrifice someone could give is to place themself in immediate danger daily to help serve and protect those who can’t protect themselves. People you don’t even know.

There are not many people who sign up for that and continue to show up against all odds. Most people run away from danger, and he has chosen to run towards it. He is a true hero, and I am beyond proud of him."
