Go North Corridor H Campaign

Join us in support the Go North Corridor H Campaign!

We challenge the WV Division of Highways in their pursuit of the Corridor H “revised original preferred alternative” (ROPA) for the Parsons-to-Davis segment. We can’t let this mega highway split Davis and Thomas (historic sister cities) from each other. Further, this giant four- lane highway will be visible from locations within Blackwater Falls State Park, will cross the rail trail which will spoil the planned Blackwater Loop Trail connecting Davis-Thomas-Blackwater Falls State Park and the Mon Forest, and degrade historic resources including portions of the historic Henry Gassaway Davis coke oven operations, an African-American historic school site and other valuable places. This splitting route will have the worst impacts on some of the worst acid mine drainage issues in WV, compromising millions of dollars already invested by the state.

There is an alternative that citizens are supporting: a route going north of Thomas and then west toward the high school and down the mountain doing as little damage as possible. The Northern route avoids the Blackwater Canyon and the wild lands and wildlife in and around it, the charming towns, historic sites and public lands. Help us push for the “better route” with a donation to make the Northern Route a reality. Every dollar counts.

Funds go for advertising, legal fees and expert reports on why the Northern Route is the better route. Give now!
