Goat Herder's life destroyed

Hi, my name is Lisa. I am fundraising for my husband, Josh. We live on a small off-grid homestead farm raising dairy goats, chickens, rabbits, dogs and cats. Josh always dreamed of living on a mountain and raising goats. After his father died, we realized that you can't let your dreams wait. Life is too short and unpredictable, so you have to grab joy where you can.
This is our 8th summer on the farm. On August 25, Josh was rear-ended by an impaired driver. He hit Josh at 45mph and destroyed our Ford Ranger and Josh's life. Living off-grid requires strength, planning and rolling with the punches. Mother Nature is not always kind. Because of Josh's injuries, he can never safely live here on the mountain again. The other vehicle's driver lost his Geico insurance 1 week before this accident. So now we have 3 insurance companies pointing fingers at each other and all saying, "we aren't paying." When I looked up the other driver on-line, I found a tale of woe. He was just thrown out of his home by his wife and his construction company was involuntarily dissolved. The day after the accident, he tried to get his vehicle out of the impound lot. The owner called to update me that he did not have insurance and told me that he whined about "not being able to handle this now." When I read his Facebook, I felt sorry for him. But all I can think of now is how to help Josh survive and thrive in the new reality we face. Josh has had 2 emergency surgeries. His neck and thoracic vertebrae were broken, so they did surgery to pin everything back together. There is a lot of hardware in his neck. Luckily, he was not paralyzed but his injuries could still lead to paralysis. On Sunday, doctors discovered he has sepsis and performed more emergency surgery on his neck. Two different bacteria have set up home at his surgical site. His recovery will not be weeks or months but years. He will need a 24-hour caregiver and adaptive equipment. We will need to re-home all our farm animals and leave this home he loves to live closer to hospitals, rehab centers and people. We will need to replace our vehicle, hire companies to move us, and pray we find somewhere to live. Our medical bills will be in the millions when everything is said and done. The funds we raise will be used for Josh's care, making sure we have a safe winter vehicle, locating appropriate housing, paying deposits on housing, rehoming the farm animals and hiring a bankruptcy attorney.
