Goblet of Wine Monopoly Charity Pub Crawl
GOBLET OF WINE CHARITY PUB CRAWL!
So we can *finally* do this after waiting for ALMOST TWO YEARS thanks to Covid! To raise money for our chosen charities (Mermaids and Dementia UK) we're going to be doing the Monopoly pub crawl challenge on the 24th of September. That means 22 pubs from the locations on the UK Monopoly board, in 13 hours, with a drink at every pub. We might die, but that's a price we're willing to pay. It's self-funded, aka, we won't be using the donated money to pay for drinks, so don't worry, every penny will be going to charity. Both of these charities are hugely important to us and tie into the world of Harry Potter, so please do donate if you either want to support these charities, want me and Hannah to get alcohol poisoning, or want to say a big fuck you to JK Rowling. There will be a vlog of the day going up on social media so that everyone can see just how much we suffer too.
We've both chosen charities that we feel passionate about and will be splitting the donations equally:
Charlie's Charity - Mermaids
"Mermaids supports transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse children and young people until their 20th birthday, as well as their families and professionals involved in their care. We also currently offer web chat support to students up to the age of 25.
Transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse children and teens need support and understanding, as well as the freedom to explore their gender identity. Whatever the outcome, Mermaids is committed to helping families navigate the challenges they may face.
Our support…
Reduces isolation and loneliness for transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse children, young people and their families.
Provides families and young people with the tools they need to negotiate education and health services.
Helps young people to cope better with mental and emotional distress, and equips their parents with what they need to offer individual support.
Improves the self-esteem and social skills of children and young people.
Improves awareness, understanding and practices of teachers, GP’s, CAMHS, Social Services and other professionals."
Hannah's Charity - Dementia UK
"Dementia UK provides specialist dementia support for families through our Admiral Nurse service.
When things get challenging or difficult for people with dementia and their families, Admiral Nurses work alongside them. They give the compassionate one-to-one support, guidance and practical solutions people need, and that can be hard to find elsewhere.
Admiral Nurses are continually trained, developed and supported by Dementia UK. Families that have their support have someone truly expert and caring by their side. They are a lifeline helping families to live more positively with dementia in the present, and to face the challenges of tomorrow with more confidence and less fear.
We believe that everyone who needs the support of a specialist dementia nurse should get one, and we’re working hard to increase the number of Admiral Nurses across the UK."
