Godfrey to junior worlds 2017
Hi everyone,
My name is Godfrey Slattery I'm 18 years old and currently studying year 12 at Emmaus college. I've got a passion for bikes, and have been racing competitively for 7 years. After my performances at U19 track nationals this year with a Gold in the Team pursuit, Individual pursuit and Madison, I've been lucky enough to be selected to represent Australia at the junior world championships held in Montichiari, Italy on August 23-27. It’s such a great honor and privilege to represent my country.
After last year’s experience with my first worlds campaign, I now have another opportunity to represent Australia at the U19 World Championships. I’m a year older and coming back knowing what to expect and the hard work that needs to be done to be in medal contention.
In order to get over to Italy this year the levy is $3000 and by the help and support of both Cycling Australia and Commonwealth Games Australia it is considerably lower than that of last year.
I am very grateful for your generosity and support last year as I would have been unable to participate without your help. I’m aiming to improve on my top ten placement with a crack at a medal.
The hard work has only just begun! I’m in a heavy training block in preparation for the International Track series at the end of July which leads into camp prior to worlds. I will keep everyone posted on my Facebook with my results and achievements.
Hope to make you all proud!
Sincerely
Godfrey Slattery
