Gods Glory in a Tragic Story Help for Healing

Hi my name is Frances Baker and I am a friend of the Hochstetler family. This has been a heart wrenching event in their lives and I would like to help this family by getting this story out to friends and the people in the community whom would be willing to help. A human life has been effected along with the tragic loss of a family animal which was ended way to soon due to someone not paying attention. On Sunday Evening July 2nd tragedy struck . Jeff was riding the country block as he has so many times before just enjoying a peaceful ride with his daughters horse Shadow. It’s rare that he has the opportunity to ride Shadow as he is definitely Korie’s baby. As they neared home less than a mile away their peaceful ride was cut short when a vehicle rear ended the horse which sent Jeff launching into the windshield where he then rolled across the vehicle and was thrown into a ditch. Jeff was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital where he underwent CT Scans, X-rays etc. Shadow while seriously injured knew where home was and blood lined the roads from his severe injury just to get home and by the grace of GOD he made it to be with his best girl Korie. What a Miracle!! Shadow was hemorrhaging blood horribly and due to the July 4th Holiday weekend it made it difficult to reach a Vet but again by GOD’s Grace 2 different emergency vets showed up within minutes apart and examined Shadows injuries. They both noted that Shadows internal injuries were far worse than what we could physically see outside and that there was no chance of saving him at that point. Korie sat with Shadow, her horse, her best friend, an animal that has gotten her through some difficult times as he laid his head in her lap while she prayed over him, thanked him, and screamed & cried in agony making the decision that she had to put him to sleep as it was the best thing for him due to his injuries, all while her daddy was in the hospital and had no knowledge of the horse’s status. Jeff has had multiple concussions in his life but was diagnosed with a severe concussion along with a bad case of whiplash and damage to his eye. Two days after this tragic event the witnesses who watched the entire situation play out and whom got to Jeff first got the families address and came to the home to offer help of any kind and tell their story. They acknowledged that they seen Jeff and Shadow riding in the grass and from their own vehicle tried to get the opposing vehicle that hit Jeff & Shadow to pay attention and stop. When they got to Jeff he was unconscious as stated by the two eye witnesses who watched the entire situation play out. Shadow is a piece of this family and it has has left a gaping hole in their hearts. Shadows life was cut short and he didn’t deserve the suffering. Jeff is a walking miracle but has a long road ahead, full of physical therapy, chiropractic care, and Jeff is having severe PTSD and night terror’s. Never the less we recognize how miraculous it is that it wasn’t far worse. Korie is a 16 year old young lady who is beside herself with grief while simultaneously leaning strong into her Faith. This family has been so traumatized by these events. Emergency vet bills are arriving, medical bills will be on the way, and there will need to be extended counseling for this family not to mention, this sweet girl deserves the option for a new horse if and when she becomes ready to love again. They will be seeking an attorney as well but it’s looking like that could be a long road.
