GOFORTH FAMILIES
Donation protected
This is a place to donate money to help the families living on Goforth Road that experienced flooding on Saturday September 22. Each of the ten houses were affected to a varying degrees. Several houses took on 2-3 feet of flooding and half will be displaced for months. Mounting expenses include insurance deductibles, moving costs, storage units and last minute hotel nights. A large sum which is surprisingly not covered by insurance is the cost of a place to live while the Goforth homes are repaired. Paying equivalent to a double mortgage on top of the rest of the unexpected costs is huge financial hit!
Let’s help soften the blow with some neighborly donations . Give any amount - everything helps!
Here is more information about Sarah and Caleb Hargesheimer, one of the 10 residents of Goforth Road, to give you a better idea of what our neighbors are facing:
This week has been full of very difficult moments, like tearing apart their daughter's nursery, throwing away books and pictures, and knocking out cabinets Caleb built by hand. Through all the conversations with the FEMA rep, demo companies, and contractors, we estimate being out of our home for 4-6 months. That's 4-6 months of displaced temporary living that is not covered by insurance. In addition, it'll take FEMA almost 2 months to determine and send funds therefore we are relying on our own funds to start the process of restoring our home.
Damage replacement includes floors, subfloor, 4ft down of all drywall, all tile, all cabinets, all the doors, AC/HVAC, and potential foundation repairs.
The White Rock Valley Neighborhood Association will distribute the contributions evenly between the residents with damage.
