GoForward Otte Kids

My name is Jeff Otte, and for 11 years, I’ve dedicated my life to helping others as a full-time firefighter and paramedic in Illinois. However, I’m now in a tough situation, and I need your support.
On January 26, 2016, I was left alone to care for my seven children. This was not by choice. My wife left home just four days before our oldest son, Brandon, was scheduled to have a tumor removed from his skull. He was diagnosed with Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH), a very rare type of cancer that causes an excess of white blood cells to accumulate in the body and form tumors. He is currently receiving a 52 week treatment of chemotherapy.
Right now, my only current support is my sister, Cindy, who has undergone two major brain surgeries to repair her brain aneurysms. While helping care for Brandon and the other children, Cindy got a call from her doctor after a routine mammogram, saying she had breast cancer. She immediately underwent a double mastectomy, but still helps out as much as she can.
I’ve proudly taken on the role of “Mr. Mom” without directly asking for any assistance. Many people have reached out to me offering assistance, and I’m extremely grateful.
You should also know the some of my children have cognitive and developmental delays (Autism) that require frequent visit to different types of specialists and different types of therapies.
During Brandon’s surgery and recovery, my time was limited with him as I had to return to work. Now that I’ve returned to work as a firefighter/paramedic, it is extremely challenging as I work the 24/48 schedule. I have started this page to ask for donations/prayers or even just a share. I desperately need financial support to hire special needs nannies for the children, so I can continue to work full-time, as we cannot do without the health insurance.
Thank you,
Jeff
