Camp Bright Feathers- 25 th Anniversary
.
For one week in August, children ages 7-16 from the New Jersey and Philadelphia area can attend Camp Bright Feathers. The children that attend camp may either be infected or affected with HIV/AIDS. The purpose of Camp Bright Feathers is to provide a stress-free, fun, recreational camp in the woods for these children that are dealing with an assortment of issues back at home. It’s a chance for these children to just be kids.
YMCA Camp Ockanickon hosts Camp Bright Feathers and provides staff, room, and food for the camp for the week.
This campaign fundraiser is to help offset additional costs and needs to provide the campers with a wonderful life changing experience. The money will be used to provide bus transportation to and from the camp. Other needs include a camp t-shirt, arts and crafts supplies, camp yearbook, feathers, felt table flags, outside entertainment (it's our 25th Anniversary), and a few additional supplies for the campers.
I have been lucky enough to be involved with such a wonderful experience that has such a profound effect on the campers. Camp provides a great outdoor experience that allows children to try new and exciting things, build relationships with other children that they may not normally befriend, learn things about his or her self, and become more independent.
Times are hard financially for everyone, but if you could donate even one dollar to help build a life changing experience for a child not only would I appreciate it, but I know the campers would love you for it. With your help we could provide the best week ever for campers on such a monumental year. If you can not donate money, it would be appreciated if you could share this with all of your friends and family. I would be very grateful for your act of kindness.
We are trying to reach our goal by August 15th, 2016 , in order to try to book some outside entertainment.
