Many of you know that Lucas & Marybeth's dog, Beebs, is currently putting up the fight of her grumpy little life fighting a very severe case of Pneumonia. Beebs is 1/2 of the dynamic dog-duo that accompanied Lucas and Marybeth on their cross country travels over the past few years as documented in Left n' Leaving.
As a testament to positive energy, thinking, and will to live, Beebs, has made huge strides in recovery. Against all odds she is breathing on her own again, slowly snuffing out the pneumonia that had infected 75% of her lungs. Beebs is at home finally, but was released at 30% of her very long recovery. This was the least expensive option after spending 5 days at Dove Lewis ICU in an Oxygen Tank.
When they brought her into emergency the veterinary doctors did not think recovery was even possible. They suggested putting Beebs down immediately assuming the financial costs vs the likelihood of recovery would be too large. They said Beebs didn't have a chance. But Lucas and Marybeth believe money should never be a motivating factor in the ability to take care of those you love.
They spent their rent money, borrowed credit, and put a whole lot of concentrated positive thinking into her corner. Needless to say, after some real scary moments, administering CPR in their bathroom one evening, some sad quiet days and sleepless nights, they are very excited to have their friend Beebs back home, but the challenges aren't over.
As we know, veterinarian bills are very expensive and unfortunately there are more coming in the next few weeks. Beebs will need more X-rays in the upcoming weeks to make sure that the pneumonia is clearing up, antibiotics for the next 8 weeks, steriods for the next 2 weeks, and she has to be hand-fed specialty meatballs and small servings of water twice a day. Once the pneumonia has cleared up she will need a surgery on her enlongated soft palate and upper respritory areas which as you can guess, is also super expensive. She has a long road ahead, but she's a fighter. Please help some good friends that are in great need.
