GoFundMe Campaign for Jake’s Service Dog and Medical Support
Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family, and Community,
I am reaching out to you in hopes of securing support for my son, Jake, who has been facing significant health challenges since the day he was born and has been diagnosed with autism as well. Jake’s journey has been difficult, and he now requires the help of a service dog to manage his condition and improve his quality of life.
*Jake’s Journey*
Jake was born prematurely at 34.5 weeks, weighing just 3 pounds 12 oz, and spent his first days in the NNICU. His early days were critical, and he even required emergency surgery shortly after birth. Since then, Jake has faced numerous challenges, including seizures, a diagnosis of verbal dyspraxia, autism, hearing loss, and a rare degenerative neurological disease for which there is no cure. Despite multiple therapies and medical interventions, Jake struggles with balance, speech, and motor skills.
*Why We Need Your Help*
Jake’s health requires an extensive care team, including neurologists, speech pathologists, pediatricians, genetic specialists, and more. He also attends therapy regularly and sees specialists for his dental and hearing issues. Despite all of this, Jake continues to face daily struggles. One thing that could greatly improve his life is a trained service dog. This dog would help manage Jake’s seizures, balance issues, and provide emotional support. However, the costs associated with this are significant.
*What We’re Raising Funds For:*
- *Service Dog Cost and Training:* $10,000 - $15,000 (over the first year)
- The dog itself will cost around $2,000.
- Training for both the dog and Jake is a long process, requiring time and dedication.
- The ongoing training is essential for the dog to maintain certification and effectively assist Jake.
- *Travel Expenses:* Regular trips for training sessions, which are about 50 minutes away from home, as well as travel for Jake’s various medical appointments.
- *Hearing Aid Accessories:* A special focus device that will help Jake understand better, which costs $2,000 and is not covered by insurance.
- *Medical Costs:* Ongoing medical appointments, therapies, and a future EEG to monitor Jake’s brain activity.
*How You Can Help*
Every donation will go towards ensuring Jake has the best chance at a better life. Whether it's helping with the cost of the service dog, medical bills, or Jake’s continued therapies, your generosity will directly support his needs. Even if you’re unable to donate, sharing Jake’s story with others would mean the world to us.
We appreciate your support more than words can express. Thank you for helping give Jake the tools and care he needs to live a happier, safer, and more fulfilled life.
With gratitude,
Priscella and Jake
