Help a Hero: Support Tom Lessard Jr.

Dear Community,

We are reaching out to you on behalf of a member of our firefighting family, Tom Lessard Jr. Tom has dedicated over 19 years of his life to serving and protecting the Mahtomedi community as a firefighter, EMT, and eventually Assistant Chief. His commitment to keeping our community safe has been unwavering, and now, he needs our support more than ever.

Tom has faced numerous challenges over the past few years, including a career-ending shoulder injury and a courageous battle with lung cancer that required a portion of his lung to be removed. Despite these adversities, Tom has remained resilient, but the financial burden and inability to work have taken a toll on him and his family.

Now, Tom faces yet another hurdle as he has been diagnosed with a rare disease that requires specialized treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. In addition to facing his own health struggles, Tom is also caring for his father, another retired Mahtomedi firefighter, who is dealing with health issues of his own. Together, they have dedicated a combined 44 years of volunteer service to our community, responding to countless emergencies and fires, and always putting the needs of others before their own.

We are coming together as a community to rally behind Tom and his family during this difficult time. We are asking for your generosity to help alleviate the financial burden he is facing. Your donations will go directly towards covering daily living expenses allowing Tom to focus on his health and well-being without the added stress of financial worries.
