GoFundMe to Launch Brownstone in NYC!

Almost every time we tell a new person about Brownstone, we get two questions:

Well, now we have an answer to both!!

Brownstone has the opportunity to launch in New York City in January, and we need your help to pull it off. We have identified an ideal brownstone in Brooklyn where we can quickly create 16 spots. The primary hurdle now is securing the necessary funding to lease this property. Demand for Brooklyn is off the charts, with over 100 people already on our waitlist!

Why Your Donation Matters:

We price our rent low so more people can have access to opportunities in expensive places like Palo Alto, San Francisco, and New York City. As a result, we don’t have a lot of extra funds laying around to take advantage of new opportunities. Thus far, the company is largely bootstrapped by the founders (James & Christina), and it will take considerable time to bring on new investors or save up enough for the next property. Meanwhile, people will go homeless or give up on opportunities in New York while we twiddle our thumbs for 6 months waiting to have enough extra capital to take on another place.

Frequently being on international news has brought so many opportunities for us to help more people, so we thought we would ask our community if they would pitch in to get us started sooner. What is Brownstone?

We make it so housing is no longer a barrier to opportunities by rapidly creating low cost shared living arrangements in existing homes without the need for construction. We have made news around the world - from the Los Angeles Times to the Daily Mail for the innovative sleeping pod communities we have created so far. Not a month goes by without one of our residents thanking us and telling us that our product changed their lives by allowing them to live in California and meet so many people.

Our residents get more than just a sleeping pod. For less than $1,000 they get space in a fully furnished shared house with plenty of common space, utilities and internet included, alongside a curated community of students, entrepreneurs, artists, and others pursuing opportunities.

We started this company 3 years ago with just an idea and the understanding that this was our God-given purpose. Since then, we've proven the concept by housing 50 people in 3 houses in California. But we know there is much more work to do. New York City is the most expensive rental housing market in the US. At the same time, it is bursting at the seams with opportunities for young people to reach their fullest potential. Having a place to rent in NYC for just $600 per month will allow more people to take advantage of everything the city has to offer.
