Covid Sucks!! Let's Have Some Fun!

Greetings Waterbury & Duxbury Community – We’ve heard it time and time again; COVID SUCKS! It’s no secret that our 7th & 8th graders are struggling with being in school only two days per week. Many parents of 7th and 8th graders are sharing stories about how their kids are grappling. We are hearing about boredom, depression, poor choices, and need for therapy. Of course this is not everyone, but parents are worried. We are all hopeful that after teacher vaccinations that we can go back to school full time in late April, but that is still 6 weeks away. The CBMS PTO has identified that we want to try and engage these 7th and 8th graders, and do it quickly. We are trying to organize lots of fun and appealing challenges in partnership with local organizations in an effort and get these students off their screens and out doing stuff. We are working to have everything COVID safe and are planning outings (like sledding, disc golf, etc...), Art competitions, community service projects, a pop-up car wash challenge, and a photo contest (similar to the Shutesville photo contest). We are organizing fast and trying to secure financial support for student prizes. The PTO has created this Go-Fund-Me page for parents and community members to contribute
We hope you will consider making a donation that will go 100% towards incentivizing the 7th and 8th grade students at CBMS to participate in these events.
Thank you for your support
