WHEW! It has been 1 heck of a year at Crooked Lake Horse Rehoming with many achievements and learning experiences under our belts!
August 2018 officially marks 1 year that we started this farm and rehomed our 1st horse!
Believe it or not, so many of you appreciated our type of horse rehome operation and spread the word, we have officially worked with 47 horses and ponies in our 1st year…Oh…We also helped rehome 7 dogs!
It has been a blessing to be able to work with these amazing horses! It has also been an incredible experience working with previous owners of the horses that come to CLHR . The most incredible thing we have experienced is watching that bond with a horse as they pick their new “Person” that want to take them home. In turn, we also build a bond with the new adoptee.
Our community in Hammondsport, NY has been very supportive of our cause and we have met so many people that want to spend time with the horses and volunteer when they have the urge to be around a horse. Some just want to help clean stalls and groom horses, some come to learn, some are here to overcome a fear of horses while others can not own a horse and will do anything to be around them. All help is appreciated and welcomed!
We also learned that some horses that come to Crooked Lake Horse Rehoming need some extra TLC from extra hay and grain to medical attention and that gets costly.
Moving into 2020, our farm will become a Non–Profit Organization! Thanks to our wonderful community who have taught us how beneficial this will be to continue into the future of Crooked lake Horse Rehoming .
With 2020 Winter upon us, we are currently caring for more horses than we had last year!
We are asking for donations to go toward hay, grain, bedding and veterinary bills.

Many times when we take in a horse, we cover ALL costs to pick up the animal (or animals).... We have also paid for shots and coggins to care for the horse before they come to our farm. We have had some costly bills in the last year.
We would love to help rehome more horses and allow more to come through our farm and have a safe place to stay and wait for their new homes supplied with endless food, water, shelter, etc.
We are currently responsible for 25 horses on and our monthly costs to maintain these animals are as follows:
Hay - $650 to $1000 per month
Grain - $250 to $300 per month
Bedding - $100 to $150 per month
Farrier (Hoove Trim) - $100 to $200 per month
Vet / Dental / Medicine - $200 to $650 per month
At the lowest cost of $1300 per month X's 6 months (November to April 2020) is $7800.00
Any donations are helpful.
We have horses on a list waiting to come in. Please help us make it possible to keep this going and continue to help these horses.
Right now, it is only Heather & Joe caring for, training and transporting the horses working out of Hammondsport NY.
We are hoping as we move forward to be able to bring on some full and part time hands. The more donations, the more possibilities!!
Please Share and understand, even the smallest donation is a HUGE HELP for these amazing horses!
