DONNIE FRITTS
lost his forehead, pituitary gland, part of frontal lobe, whole center face including his upper palate, nose and all tissue, muscle and bone when the doctors at Emory, in Atlanta, radically removed the three stage four tumors due to a rare cancer, Ameloblastic Carcinoma.
HE IS NOT
a candidate for a face transplant due to being a high risk for infection. His body rejected his own bone taken from the top of his head and placed between his eyes.
HE HAS HAD
Over 40 surgeries and procedures.
HE HAS TO
Use prosthetics devices to be whole. He wears a prosthetic nose as well as an obturator.
THESE DEVICES
are held in place with magnets and clips attached to a metal bar that is screwed into the dental implants embedded into Donnie's man-made forehead.
A WHOLE NEW PROSTHETIC FACE
is needed at this time.
THE MAGNETS ARE WORN OUT
and the upper palate is not working correctly causing extreme pain and horrible mouth sores.
