Jamie Needs Help Fighting Her Liver
Donation protected
Her name is Jamie and she is one of my dearest friends. She has been fighting a battle against an extremely rare form of liver disease known as Budd-Chiari Syndrome. It is a condition so rare that it effects only one in a million adults. She has just learned very unexpectedly that the next step in her journey is to undergo a liver transplant evaluation at The Mayo Clinic starting on August 20, 2020. This sudden worsening of her disease has blinded sided her emotionally, physically and financially.
The Mayo Clinic requires that she be in the Jacksonville area for 3 weeks starting on 8/20/2020, and she is responsible for her own food and lodging expenses. She lives 4 hours away from Jacksonville, FL. The expense of this will be immense for her and she is in need of significant financial assistance for things that her health insurance will not cover such as lodging, food and payment of her health insurance premium while she is on a leave of absence from her job for a currently undetermined amount of time.
Her family is offering her support in the form of free housing and taking over some of her bills, such as her modest car payment. Her family is only able to offer her limited amounts of financial assistance in the form of loans, as they are of modest means as well. It is devastating to them that they cannot help her more.
Anyone who has ever met Jamie will not hesitate to tell you that her story is not meant to end at the age of 30. She has been my saving grace many times in the 5 years that we have been friends. We started off as co-workers and I have had the absolute privilege of watching her grow immensely professionally and personally.
Jamie is among the most genuine of people I have met throughout my life. She leaves this infectious joy wherever she goes and her presence is felt long after she has left. She will never say no to someone that she is able to help. She is vibrant and beautiful, with a soul that is still inspired by her youth. She has no enemies except for her own body.
That is why I am starting this campaign. Jamie wants to live more than anything else. Please help me help her do that. Everything from simply sharing this fundraiser to donating whatever you feel you can give has the power to help give Jamie the gift of life. So it is with my heart in my hands that I ask for help in saving Jamie’s life.
