The purpose of the Planet Newark Urban Farming Intensive is to increase access to cost free and hands-on agricultural and environmental justice training led by expert Black and Brown urban
and rural farmers.
Al-Munir Background
Al-Munir LLC is a Black Muslim led, Newark-based, boutique, education consulting firm founded in 2016 by Bilal and Breonna Walker. Al-Munir prides itself in providing unique services that include the creation : community development initiatives, childrens’ and youth educational programming, and health and wellbeing consulting services to local government, schools, and grassroots organizations.
Goals and Objectives:
1. Create a pipeline of 15 urban farming apprentices, between the ages of 14-21, who earn over 30 hours of urban farming training – soil health, composting, crop planning, and regenerative farming.
2. Create a series of 6 culturally informed and community developed urban farming training videos for children and families
