My Story...
At a young age I began baking in my mom's kitchen in upstate New York. While in middle school I started a baking business out of that same kitchen called Family Favorites. After high school I attended The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY for baking and pastry. Upon graduation from the C.I.A I moved to Boston, MA and baked my way around town. Eventually opening Canto 6 Bakery and Cafe. In 2010 Canto 6 sold and I moved to the Bay Area to be closer to family with the goal of eventually opening a bakery here.
I am a resident of Richmond, CA and a passionate baker, I have been a professional baker for over 20 years. Some of my favorite products to make are croissants, brioche, scones, cookies, pies and much more. Currently I have obtained my business license for The BakerE, I participate in the Kensington Farmers Market on a week to week basis and take orders by email, phone and my website. (www.thebakererichmond.com) This campaign is to help me open a brick and mortar bakery in my hometown.
Richmond has limited food options and many locals, workers and commuters looking for quality food that is fairly priced and delicious. I’m looking to create a warm, safe, inviting, delicious smelling and tasting bakery for the community. I am a hard working baker looking for a leg up to get this business off the ground.
The funds will be used to secure a loan in order for me to buy equipment, negotiate and enter into a lease, pay for inventory, operating capital, leasehold improvements and more.
I would love everyone that contributes to this campaign to sign my 20 quart mixer. This way you will leave a reminder of how many people helped me create this dream. Richmond has a deep rich history. I will be working with local photographers to capture the Then And Now of Richmond. I would like my walls to be a tribute to Richmond's history and present. Creating a space where everyone feels welcome.
The BakerE will be hiring local people, using local suppliers, working with other community businesses/organizations and serving products in compostable/recyclable packaging. Please help me get this project off the ground!
Thank you,
Evangeline
