Save Gingers Bar Fund
Donation protected
UPDATE:
You all are amazing. In 24 hours, you donated the full amount of emergency money we were hoping to raise for the staff. We aren’t looking to be greedy, so we were planning to shut down the link and say a big THANKS! But then several of you have asked how you can donate to a Save Gingers Bar Fund rather than just emergency relief funds. So…we’re shifting the focus of this fundraiser to the SAVE GINGERS BAR FUND as of today. All prior donations to the staff will be honored. Everything beyond goes to keeping Gingers in business so that the staff have jobs when this is over and we all have a place to gather and celebrate the end of this plague.
Thanks to everyone who donated, shared this fundraiser, or sent well wishes for the Gingers Crew and thanks to everyone who will the same for the SAVE GINGERS FUND in the future. We sure do appreciate you right now and look forward to raising a glass together soon.
ORIGINAL POST:
For twenty years Gingers has been a place for people to gather in peace or revel without fear of being judged or harmed. Whether you're chilling in the back garden, trash talking at the pool table, or flirting at the bar, Sheila and her staff always have and always will have your back. They'll tell you a joke or lend you an ear while slinging your favorite cocktail if only to remind you, you are never alone. Not now. Not ever.
The people behind the scenes are what make Gingers worth fighting for. Every dollar raised here goes into an emergency relief fund so that we can help Gingers bartenders and bus staff with grocery or rent money.
WHEN THIS FUNDRAISER MAKES $500, WE ARE ELIGIBLE FOR MATCHING FUNDS FROM GOFUNDME's SMALL BUSINESS FUND.
A personal statement from Gingers Owner, Sheila Frayne: For the first time in twenty years, I've had to tell my landlord we won't be making the rent. We got official word that Gingers, like most Park Slope shops, won't be getting any money from the small business relief fund that was supposed to help us keep the lights on and take care of our employees. Since Gingers has to remain closed so no one else gets sick, it really is up to the neighborhood to help us help our staff. I'm so grateful for everything and everyone in our community. I know everyone is struggling right now or afraid of what's to come, so I'm asking only that you do what you can. When and if we can open our doors again, we'll do the same in return knowing we are stronger when we work together. To better days.
